Feels like September just breezed right by and suddenly it's October! What a month!
We started the month with the birthday kick-off weekend and fell right back into "school" mode. I keep busy updating calendars and schedules with everything going on. Our Saturday's have been filled with cheering on the Yellow Medicine East Bowling Team. Emma has been doing great! It actually is quite fun to watch and Joelle usually tolerates the events without too much frustration! At last check Emma is bowling at a 52% fill rate, meaning she gets either a strike or spare 52% of the time she bowls! Team bowling is a different concept, but keeps the game moving! It's been fun to watch and she's having a great time! So Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons are tagged for bowling practice, add in pep band, homework, church youth meetings and rabbit happenings and you have a pretty busy schedule. Bowling schedule for October includes Benson on the 8th, Montevideo on the 15th, one weekend off!, back to Monte on the 29th and in Granite on Nov.5th for the final conference tournament.
Bob has been super busy trying to get all of the outside projects done. So far this has included 2 block "hillside" walls and this week he has been finishing the walls that will surround the front patio. I think the patio block piece of this project will start soon! Add in working with the watering system and planting what we can when he moves equipment and palettes out of the way and some wood work and door building, he's been a busy guy! Plus he is our resident bunny care guy, more on that to come...
Thanks to having such amazing family members, we have managed to get Emma to the Reading Therapy Center every day - Monday through Thursday. So far I have to say this has been great for her. It will be interesting to take a step back in December and see if we notice changes.
Joelle is busy being a toddler and one with a definite opinion! She usually gets her point across with or without words. Her favorite words are "All Done", "Oopsie", "OhOh" and once in awhile "Thank you". She loves being outside and is a little sneak with her rocks and acorns. She and the little dog work together to bring in as many acorns as they can. She loves going to daycare as the first thing she does when she arrives is eat breakfast! This girl loves her food!
On the animal front we've had quite the learning experience and our trend of the "unusual cases" continues... we are currently treating 3 of our rabbits for a venereal disease. Bob takes on the duty of the penicillin shots, I secure the bunny, Emma checks for signs of disease and necessary cleaning or occupies Joelle. This has definitely become a true family project... oiy... Hopefully we will have everyone in the clear after another week of treatment and we'll have a healthy herd once again. Soon we will look forward to breeding our large breed Cinnamons! Bob recently read about a Cinnamon that sold at a blue ribbon meat auction for $1000. I told him not to get his hopes up for that, and just simply hope for some healthy babies with good markings that will sell fast!
We also do our best to visit the Great-Grandma's and help with their needs. We soon will be moving my Grandma back to Clarissa to receive more care at the Clarissa Care Center. It's been a hard decision, but one she agrees with and is happy with. We will miss being able to drive up the hill after work or on weekends to see her, but know this is the best choice for her right now. Now we'll just add in some trips to Clarissa to the mix!
So as we look back at September we recognize that we do have a right to feel tired.... More to come soon!
