After another hiatus from the blog, it's time to return! And just in time to reflect on celebrating Joelle's 6th Birthday! What a fun one it was too! The hardest part - determining the party guests. I wish I had the ability to have 10-12 girls in my house at the same time ages 5-7... this is an important piece to recognize about oneself. Months went in to the guest list and while we had a fun group of girls, there were a few I later realized we should have invited. Luckily there are more parties to be had in the years to come.
Back to the party at hand, while avoiding that our sweet Joelle is now 6 years old, we focused on an M & M themed party! Primary colors and fun and cake! We set up a painting station for the girls to paint a rainbow trinket box and a cupcake money bank. Each girl had their own painting apron and paint brush. All of these items came from Oriental Trading, along with fun pearlized acrylic paint! The girls painted first and their pieces were able to dry while the playing, running, squealing, and dancing continued throughout the house.
With painting cleaned up, a light meal was served with Joelle's favorites. Snowflake buns from Carl's Bakery, deli ham, cheese slices, fruit salad, and cheetos. The girls did great at passing plates and food. Another clean-up break before cake led to more of the playing, running, squealing, and dancing. One whisper of "present" brought all the girls back to the living room in a flash. Since we don't often have glass bottles any more, we raided the Sophia the First Princess Game for the spinner. Worked great, until the last 2 got antsy about their turn. One of the cool things that happened is we had Joelle sit in a chair and while she was opening a particular present, that gifter sat next to her. Great option for pictures and to remember where all these fun gifts came from afterwards!
Next up - Cake! A fun cake featuring our M&M dispenser from Las Vegas and assembled and decorated by Susie Johnson at Almich's Market here in Granite Falls! It was a fun feature throughout the party!
As the girls prepared for departure, they were able to fill clear paint can containers with M&M favorites.
We were all exhausted as the last of the guests departed. Thank goodness for Emma who helped entertain Aryn (minimizing the little sister factor), Bob who managed the serving of food, and great friend Leslie for being my co-pilot in directing the girls for the duration and beyond!
And that, was definitely a great way to celebrate our sweet JoJo.
