It was a week of fun and memories that will last a lifetime. A little crazy, a little sweet, a little overwhelming and a lot exhausting! This is what happens when the Lundell families unite over the course of a week. The Kelly and Benson families started the tradition a few years ago, and this year it finally worked in our schedule to join them for at least a little while. To show what amazing family members we have, my aunt Barb and aunt Mary even gave up their room in the cabin for the 2 nights we were able to stay with the crew!
This year's location - Bug Bee Hive Resort in Paynesville, MN! This IS the place to BEE!!! Those that know the Hedlund family know that this place is not a new discovery. I remember going there as a kid with my mom's family and having great times! The girls all had a great time and we loved it so much we have our own cabin booked for 2014! Hopefully having our own space will make the bedtime and naps a little easier for my younger troops and let the older kids play all the late night games they want.
I do have to say however, there were so many times that my mind wandered and wished more than anything that my grandparents were there with us. I thought of the years we spent going up to Grandma Hedlund's camper in King Bee Camp. The week at Bug Bee Hive just happened to fall shortly after the one year anniversary of Grandma's passing. What better way to remember her than to spend time at a place she enjoyed so much.
My thoughts also wandered to the times Grandma and Grandpa Lundell arranged for everyone to spend a week together in cabins in Northern Minnesota. They would both be so pleased that we have brought back that tradition and continue to make family something special.
