So a new family adventure started this January and there are moments when I'm not sure it was the right time. But then I get confirmation that really there is no right time for some of this, you just have to do it. The new adventure - online education. While this isn't a totally new adventure for me, this adventure has expanded to also include Emma!
I have just finished Week 6 of my 2 business classes - Intro to Business and Intro to Entrepreneurship. So far, so good! Although there have been weeks when I tell myself I was crazy to think I had time for this! And yet, I find the time... The Intro to Entrepreneurship jumped out at me as something I should take, especially when I learned that the main class project was to write a business plan. For those who haven't heard, Bob and I have been talking about starting up an Alpaca Farm. The planner in me said we have a lot of research to do and forcing yourself to write a feasibility plan and business plan for a grade is a great way to get this accomplished! Plus we'll see if it really is something for us and can be as much as a financial investment as it is a therapy one. However, my time management needs some work as there have been times that I'm quickly taking my test with 5 minutes to complete before the deadline... oops.
On to Emma, after much deliberation we decided she needed a different type of instruction to get her re-engaged with science. With both parents being science enthusiasts, it broke our hearts to see her struggle. So, after some investigation we decided to enroll her in the Minnesota Online High School (MNOHS) as a supplemental student who is just enrolled in the Physical Science class. Emma was reinvigorated to try science again and enjoyed the first night's online pep rally! We have many family members who have also offered to help with some of the instruction and assignments, but so far on Week 2 things are going well! Not sure Emma was too thrilled when even though school was canceled at YME, her online coursework continued! No snow days in cyber space!
